Just Say Jose says adios to the U.S.
November 21, 2011
The top-selling horse at the Breeders’ Trust Select Sale was Just Say Jose, a 2000 sorrel overo stallion, earner of 241 APHA points and a Superior in Western pleasure. Just Say Jose will be heading to Finland with his new owner Jukka Kivela. The accomplished stallion, consigned by Calvin L. Emig, was sold for $10,500.
Sired by RR Jose Cuervo and out of Dollie Pine Robin, Just Say Jose was bred by Kimberly and Carlene Lowe of Clinton, Missouri and nominated to the Breeders’ Trust. Just Say Jose has produced several APHA top five and top 10 World Show finalists and his offspring have earned more than 3,000 APHA points.
Kivela, one of the leading breeders in Finland and an APHA member for more than 20 years, suffered a mild heart attack nine weeks ago. His doctor recommended that he could relieve stress by doing more things that he loved.
Kivela took that advice to heart and scheduled a trip to Fort Worth, planning to enjoy the World Show experience but not intending to purchase any horses.
Once Kivela arrived in Texas and saw the outstanding quality of the Breeders’ Trust horses in the sale, combined with a strong euro, he changed his mind about making a purchase.
“I wanted a stallion to breed to my stallion’s daughters,” said Kivela, who founded the Finnish Paint Horse Association in 2007. “We need a stallion like him in Finland.”
